Sunny Singh of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP Selected as One of ABI's 2020 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Sunny Singh of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP (New York) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special virtual ceremony on February 18, 2021.

Singh advises debtors, creditors, sponsors, investors, acquirers, lenders and other interested parties in all aspects of distressed and insolvency situations both in and out of court. He has extensive experience with pre-packaged chapter 11 cases and asset sales under the Bankruptcy Code. Singh’s engagements have ranged across various industries, including airlines, banking, financial services, oil and gas and retail. Most recently, he was named a “Rising Star” for Restructuring and Insolvency in the U.S. by IFLR1000 in 2020, recognized by Law360 as a “Rising Star” for Bankruptcy in 2017, and was named in Turnarounds & Workouts as one of its “Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers,” also in 2017. Singh has spoken on panels addressing strategies relating to prepackaged chapter 11 cases and retail restructurings, and has also published articles and blogs on various bankruptcy and restructuring topics. Prior to joining the firm, Singh clerked for Hon. Robert D. Drain in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York from 2006-08. He received his J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2006 and his B.A. from SUNY Albany in 2003.

“Accomplished in both their careers and communities, the 2020 class of honorees is an inspiration for the future of the insolvency community,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to collaborating with this diverse collection of young leaders in the full range of ABI's activities to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
