Joseph Pack of Pack Law Selected as One of ABI's 2021 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Joseph Pack of Pack Law (Miami) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony to be held on Dec. 10 at ABI’s 2021 Winter Leadership Conference at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Pack founded Pack Law at age 35 after handling multibillion-dollar cases at Kirkland & Ellis and White & Case. These included “free-fall,” pre-arranged and pre-packaged chapter 11s, out-of-court restructurings, and asset sales (from inventory worth less than $100,000 to ring-fenced, regulated energy companies worth more than $15 billion). Pack has been guest-lecturing on a chapter 11 case study for the University of Miami School of Law’s Chapter 11 Clinic annually since 2018, and he has since accepted a position as an adjunct professor for Advanced Bankruptcy at the University of Florida Law School, which starts in January 2022.

Pack has received numerous awards for pro bono hours worked virtually every year since beginning practice. In 2011, as a junior associate at Kirkland & Ellis, Mr. Pack was identified as a New York State Bar Association Empire State Counsel 2011 Honoree for the high level of pro bono hours worked for “low-income, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals,” contributing that year to Kirkland & Ellis’s 7,674 firm-wide pro bono hours. He was selected as a 2021 Florida Super Lawyer and was named to the 2022 Florida Best Lawyers list. He received his J.D. cum laude in 2009 from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law, his M.A. in accounting with a specialization in federal tax law from the University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting, and his B.S. summa cum laude in accounting in 2006 from the University of Florida.

“The 2021 honorees are a testament to the future of the insolvency profession, with exemplary accomplishments in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to this diverse collection of young leaders propelling ABI's full range of activities forward to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
