Jason Burgess of The Law Offices of Jason A. Burgess, LLC Selected as One of ABI's 2021 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Jason Burgess of The Law Offices of Jason A. Burgess, LLC (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony to be held on Dec. 10 at ABI’s 2021 Winter Leadership Conference at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Burgess, the member manager of The Law Offices of Jason A. Burgess, LLC, is Board-Certified in both Business Bankruptcy and Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification and concentrates his practice on chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and complex bankruptcy litigation. While in law school and for a time after graduation, he practiced in the area of creditors’ rights, representing many of the nation’s largest financial institutions. He later decided to use his knowledge of the creditor’s side for the debtor’s advantage, and now concentrates his practice on helping businesses and individuals reorganize. He has also been appointed as a subchapter V trustee for both the Middle District of Florida and Northern District of Florida, and he is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator.

Burgess is an ABI Bankruptcy Mediation Program certificate-holder from St. John's University School of Law’s Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution. He received his LL.M. in Business Transactions from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2015, J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law 2007 and B.A. from the University of Alabama in 2003, and studied international business law at Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland.

“The 2021 honorees are a testament to the future of the insolvency profession, with exemplary accomplishments in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to this diverse collection of young leaders propelling ABI's full range of activities forward to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
