Adine Momoh of the U.S. Attorney's Office Selected as One of ABI's 2023 "40 Under 40"
Alexandria, Va.— ABI announces that Adine Momoh of the U.S. Attorney's Office (Minneapolis) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s award program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 1 at ABI’s 2023 Winter Leadership Conference at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Momoh is an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota and actively represents the U.S. in more than 100 bankruptcy cases under chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13, as well as adversary proceedings. She also is recognized as a national leader on the issue of dischargeability of student loans in bankruptcy. After nearly 15 years in private practice, including seven as an equity partner, Momoh now leads the bankruptcy work for the District in its Civil Division, serving as its lead and primary bankruptcy attorney. She also handles various affirmative and defensive matters for the U.S., such as civil rights enforcement and fraud. Momoh is a frequent writer and lecturer, including having presented for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, ABI, American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association and International Women’s Restructuring & Insolvency Confederation. For over six years, she has co-authored a chapter on “Contested Motions and Adversary Proceedings” for the Minnesota Bankruptcy Deskbook. Momoh has been recognized as a prominent attorney and community leader by a number of organizations and publications, including Lawdragon 500’s Leading U.S. Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers and the POWER30 for Business Litigation by Minnesota Lawyer; she has been recognized as a “Nation’s Best” Law Firm Leader by Lawyers of Color; she is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and of the American Bar Foundation; she received the Service to MWL Award by Minnesota Women Lawyers; and she received the 40 Under 40: Nation’s Best Advocates Award by the National Bar Association and 40 Under 40 recognition by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. In 2023, Momoh received the Attorney of the Year: Outstanding Service to the Profession Award for the second time from Minnesota Lawyer, having been recognized for initiating a national pro bono challenge called the StepUp Challenge in response to the tragic murder of George Floyd to improve access to justice and to remove systemic racial and socioeconomic disparities in the country, and for creating a multi-part training program for attorneys to support these efforts and to use their legal skills to advocate for change in marginalized communities.
“The members of the 2023 class are an inspiration for the commitment, creativity and ingenuity that they demonstrate in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “This diverse collection of honorees is comprised of future leaders that will drive ABI and the insolvency community forward.”
The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its seventh year, the goal of ABI’s “40 under 40” award program is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
