Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Nisha R. Patel of Samuel I. White, P.C. (Richmond, Va.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special virtual ceremony on February 18, 2021.

Patel is the managing bankruptcy attorney at Samuel I. White, P.C., where she represents financial institutions, mortgage servicers, and other secured and unsecured creditors in all aspects of bankruptcy and state court litigation in Virginia and Maryland. She is also a certified guardian ad litem for incapacitated adults in Virginia. Prior to joining SIWPC, Patel represented consumers in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies in addition to litigating domestic relations and other civil matters. Patel is committed to pro bono service.  During law school, she was recognized by the Harry L. Carrico Center for Pro Bono & Public Service for her service to the Richmond community. In addition to maintaining a pro bono guardianship and conservatorship practice for low-income individuals throughout the Richmond metro area, she is a frequent presenter for the Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) program and recently revamped the CARE presentation used to educate middle and high school students about credit management and financial literacy. Patel received her J.D. from the University of Richmond and her undergraduate degrees with honors from Michigan State University.

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
