Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Luis Lluberas of Moore & Van Allen PLLC (Charlotte, N.C.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony to be held on Dec. 10 at ABI’s 2021 Winter Leadership Conference at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Lluberas is a member of the Financial Restructuring team at Moore & Van Allen, where his multidisciplinary practice encompasses a wide range of financial services matters with a focus on the resolution of troubled credits. He has extensive experience representing key stakeholders in connection with all aspects of financial restructuring matters in myriad industries, including agriculture, commercial real estate, energy, health care, manufacturing, retail, technology and transportation. Lluberas serves as the general counsel and secretary for the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance (formerly the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce), which is focused on the promotion and advancement of the 15-county Charlotte region. In that role, he is the primary source of legal advice for the enterprise and regularly advises on matters related to corporate governance, compliance, commercial transactions, human resources and risk-management. Lluberas is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee and Attorney Development Committee, and for six years he chaired or co-chaired the firm’s Lawyers of Color affinity group. He received his J.D. with honors in 2008 from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his B.A. Phi Beta Kappa in 2005 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“The 2021 honorees are a testament to the future of the insolvency profession, with exemplary accomplishments in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to this diverse collection of young leaders propelling ABI's full range of activities forward to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
