Cristine Schwarzman of Ropes & Gray LLP Selected as One of ABI's 2020 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Cristine Schwarzman of Ropes & Gray LLP (New York) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special virtual ceremony on February 18, 2021.

Schwarzman is a restructuring partner in Ropes & Gray’s New York office. She has represented some of the most well-known debtors in the world, and in 2020 was named a “Rising Star” by Private Debtor Investor and a “Top U.S.A. Dealmaker” by the Global M&A Network. Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Schwarzman clerked for Chief Judge Gonzalez of the Southern District of New York, then joined the restructuring group of another preeminent New York law firm. She joined Ropes & Gray’s restructuring practice to continue her representation of debtors, distressed borrowers and investors, including private-equity sponsors, in connection with out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 cases. Schwarzman also advises boards of directors and senior management of distressed companies regarding fiduciary duties and corporate governance. She received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2010, her Certificate in Business Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and her B.A. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007.

“Accomplished in both their careers and communities, the 2020 class of honorees is an inspiration for the future of the insolvency community,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to collaborating with this diverse collection of young leaders in the full range of ABI's activities to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
